Photo Workshop New York with Davide Monteleone

From 19 to 25 June I participated in the New York Photo Workshop with Davide Monteleone, a “surreal” experience that gave life to the “Stonewall: the Temple” project.

During the Workshop, masterfully organized by Spazio Labo’, Davide guided us to discover the multiple narratives offered by a city like New York, allowing us to identify and then build day after day our personal story, our path in the thousand intersections of city.

And this is precisely how the project was born, from the idea of showing New York intersections as a metaphor for the intersections that life offers. A series of “mistakes” in the first phase of the project and lucky coincidences led me to the Stonewall Inn, introducing me to the hidden story behind the battles for the rights of the LGBT world, in a “whirlwind” intersection of gazes, faces, events and emotions .

Davide Monteleone, having viewed the first photos taken inside the restaurant, told me: “You have finally found a way”.

From Monteleone I was able to understand his very particular point of view, his method and the fact that he himself always looked at his work with a critical eye. I was like a train that occasionally risked derailing, and he put me back on the track; an almost “fatherly” influence.
