Assistant director “Title Sequence” for Sens8 by Lana and Lilly Wachowski

In April 2016 and October 2017, I had the honor of working as assistant director of “Title Sequence” for the second season of Sens8, a Netflix production of… Lana and Lilly Wachowski, creators of The Matrix! In creating the television series, the Wachowskis were joined by writer, cartoonist and director J. Michael Straczynski.

I spent most of my time with Karin Winslow, Lana’s life partner.

The first part of the shoot, in 2016, was on the Amalfi Coast, in particular in Positano, my home: this small advantage allowed me to introduce Lana and Karin to places and characters in my town that are unknown to most. In fact, in addition to the scenes on the Spiaggia Grande, which became a party location for the occasion, we went to Vallone Porto to discover and tell the hidden beauty of life in such a “mystical” place.

The second part, shot in 2017 instead, saw Naples as the protagonist, among colorful alleys, ancient buildings and all the sympathy and genuineness of the locals people.

At the end of this experience I gathered great awareness of the huge world that hides behind a production, a world made up of machines, people, races against time, lucky and unforeseen unexpected events and a lot of creativity.

Sens8 is the story of eight strangers from different parts of the world who suddenly develop a mutual telepathic connection. In an intertwining of cultures, religions, different sexual orientations, the protagonists try to discover the meaning of their perceptions and begin to interact at a distance, creating a strange and disturbing connective network.
